OFFICIAL RULES FOR BOTH 3-ON-3 AND 4-ON-4 PLAY

  1. Game time is forfeit time (referee’s discretion). Forfeit score is 16-0
  2. Games first possession will be determined by a coin flip.
  3. Jump ball will go to the defense.
  4. Top, sides and bottom of backboard are in-bounds. Baseboard is out of bounds.
  5. Fouls and violations are called by referees for the 11 and under brackets. Fouls and violations are called by referees in all other brackets, however we will also acknowledge calls made by players. Referees have the right to accept or overrule the players call. The referee’s call is final.
  6. Two 30 second timeouts are allowed per game (if time permits).
  7. Substitutions may be made during dead ball and time-out situations.
  8. Free Throw Situations:
    1. On and after the 7th team foul, shoot one free throw.
    2. Fouls in the act of shooting: one free throw for 1 point attempts and two free throws for 2 point attempts.
    3. If basket is made while being fouled in the act of shooting, team is awarded the point(s) and no free throws will be taken.
    4. If a foul shot is missed, the ball must be taken back behind the two point line by the rebounding team (3-on-3 or 4-on-4 offensive rebound). Failure to do so results in the rebounding team receiving the ball up top. In the case of a 4-on-4 defensive rebound, the ball may be immediately advanced up court.
  9. (3-on-3 only) – Any possession must be taken out at top of court with ball being checked by the defense. After a score, the ball must (1) change possession, and (2) be checked by defense before play begins. ON EVERY CHANGE OF POSSESSION the ball must be taken back beyond the 2 point line, both feet, NO EXCEPTION. If violation occurs, offensive team will receive the ball up top.

ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. We reserve the right to verify any player’s age. Inaccurate information is grounds for disqualification of the entire team. Each player is encouraged to carry personal identification. We reserve the right to reduce the number of rescheduled games or shorten games, due to unforeseen circumstances. Teams not at their courts at scheduled game times will automatically lose that game.

Red Hacker reserves the right to merge junior brackets with one age group higher, in the event a low number of teams enter in a given division*-.

Each team member’s age must fall within the age division. Should a team cross the age division, a decision based upon height, weight and playing ability will determine the team’s division. All decisions of Red Hacker officials are final. Player’s age the day of the tournament designates his/her age division. Any mixed gender teams will be required to play in the boy’s/men’s division. Players may only appear on one roster.

Divisions may be scheduled either as double elimination or round-robin. 1st and 2nd place teams will receive awards. Double elimination divisions include a Dogg House bracket for teams losing their first two games. Winners of Dogg House divisions receive an award.
